FOREST LAKE

The Forest Lake area of Tuscaloosa generally refers to the area surrounding the large Forest Lake neighborhood. It is located in the middle of town and is essentially the geographic center of Tuscaloosa. The area is bounded by 15th Street on the north, McFarland Boulevard on the east, Hargrove Road on the south, and 10th Avenue on the west. The area is a mixture of single-family dwellings, small businesses, churches, schools, and student housing. There are several student apartments and housing developments so this is another area of Tuscaloosa that is also full of University of Alabama students. This area of town took a hard hit on April 27, 2011 when an F4 tornado tore through Tuscaloosa and devastated the residents and their homes. The neighborhood is slowly rebuilding.

Attractions:

AMF Bama Lanes is located on 15th Street where friends and family can gather for a fun night out bowling, and across the street is Monnish Park. The area also centers around Forest Lake.

Shopping:

There are three main shopping centers in the Forest Lake area of Tuscaloosa. Located directly on 15th Street is the Parkview Plaza shopping center, which features a couple of local businesses and restaurants. Another shopping center located on the corner of McFarland Boulevard and Hargrove Road is the Meadowbrook Shopping Center, which includes several shops and restaurants including Jason’s Deli, TCBY, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Manna Grocery.
